Information the extension handles
License Receipt handles the following information only to create and manage a receipt:
- the current page title, website hostname, and an HTTP(S) source address containing the origin and path;
- text the user selected on the current page;
- receipt details the user enters, including project, asset label, asset type, acquisition date, and intended use;
- source provenance and timestamps created by the extension;
- optional evidence-file name, MIME type, byte size, and a locally computed SHA-256 fingerprint.
The extension does not retain URL credentials, query strings, or fragments. Selected text is limited to 6,000 characters. It does not retain evidence-file contents or filesystem paths.
Users should record only information they are authorized to keep. Do not store credentials, authentication tokens, payment information, health information, government identifiers, or confidential client material.
How information is used
Information is used only to populate, save, edit, group, review, delete, and explicitly export the user's acquisition receipts. It is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, analytics, or another purpose.
The extension accesses the active page only after the user invokes its toolbar action. Page access is temporary. It does not monitor browsing in the background or read browsing history.
Storage and transfer
Confirmed receipts are stored in the current Chrome profile. An unfinished form may be stored temporarily for the current browser session. This local storage is not encrypted by License Receipt.
License Receipt does not transmit receipt information, page information, file metadata, or fingerprints to the developer or a third party. It does not sell or share user data. Explicit JSON or CSV export is the only product-directed egress. After export, the downloaded file is controlled by the user.
Retention and deletion
Receipts remain in the local Chrome profile until the user deletes them or uninstalls the extension. The register provides exact receipt deletion with an Undo option. An unfinished session draft is cleared after a confirmed save and otherwise expires with the browser session.
Uninstalling the extension removes its remaining Chrome-managed local and session storage. Exported files must be deleted by the user from their own device when no longer needed.
Permissions
- Temporary page access
- Reads the page on which the user invokes the toolbar action.
- Script access
- Performs the single user-invoked read of title, safe source address, hostname, and selected text.
- Local storage
- Keeps confirmed receipts and preserves an unfinished form during the browser session.
License Receipt requests no permanent website access and uses no persistent content script.
Security and product limits
Anyone who controls the user's device or Chrome profile may be able to access locally stored receipts. License Receipt is a recordkeeping tool. A saved receipt is not proof of a licence, does not verify current terms, and is not legal advice.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
License Receipt's use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
If data handling changes, this policy and Store disclosures will be updated before the changed version is distributed. Network transfer, accounts, telemetry, additional permissions, or third-party sharing require a new review.
